I caught a lot last night, making up for the quiet night Thursday. The always reliable Tyvek was a highlight for me. They re-expanded to a four-piece this time and played a lot of newer stuff, but it was the same high energy garage punk we’ve come to love.
Before that, I was almost literally knocked over by Drunkdriver’s violent trash rock at Encore. Highly recommended. Also at Encore was New Jersey’s Home Blitz, whose usually delightfully snotty, haphazard lo-fi jams seemed disappointingly apathetic. Moon Duo’s elegant psychedelia worked much better, even to the point of being amazing, as Kevin noted.
Golden Triangle played at Beauty Bar before Tyvek and put forth a solid effort that left me interested in hearing more. On the way back to the hotel, I was able to catch the tail end of another rousing Slim Cessna set, the perfect ending to an action-packed night.
