More and more, I find it harder to wrest myself from the orbit of Beerland in the early afternoons. It is the place to see punk during the day at SXSW, if you’re looking to get that dark and dingy 2:00am feeling at 2:00pm.
Atlanta’s Predator started off business with a much too short set of solid classic punk sounds. Detroit’s Terrible Twos (pictured left) delivered more of a metal-influenced sound with the half-smirking snarl that has made them one of my favorites. Not to be outdone, Chicago’s Daily Void impressed with their darker, weirder take on noise punk.
Needing to see the sun again, I ventured out of the cozy Beerland confines. I didn’t get far, though, as I’m now just down Red River at Plush to see This Moment In Black History.
